Welcome to the Statesman
We are central to many of Canberra’s attractions including the National Zoo and Aquarium, Mount Stromlo, The Equestrian Centre, Floriade, Parliament House, National Arboretum, Telstra Tower, National Portrait Gallery, Museum of Australian Democracy, Questacon, The Australian War Memorial, National Botanic Gardens and The National Gallery of Australia.
Who we Are
The Statesman Hotel is a traditionally styled motel located in the geographical centre of Canberra, our hotel is also in close vicinity of the Calvary John James Hospital, The National Capital Private Hospital, The Canberra Hospital and many medical specialists’ centres in Deakin.
That’s What makes us the perfect choice for patients who require overnight accommodation whilst attending medical appointments.
A small friendly shopping centre is located behind the Motel providing the services of a chemist, post office, cafes and a supermarket.
The Statesman Hotel is also close to various High Commissions Embassies, Government Buildings and Australian Public Service Offices.
The Statesman Hotel is suburban icon of a bygone era when politicians met for drinks and the Ladies Lounge was well populated, when chefs with big hats served seafood buffets and the couples danced to the Los Hermanos Quartet.
The Statesman Hotel, a little reminder of Canberra’s political 1960’s iconic heydays and one of the few remaining traditional pubs.
Now days The Statesman Hotel Terrace Lounge is a venue where you can enjoy an al a cart meal from the H2O Bistro accompanied by a bottle of wine from the Henry Parkes Terrace Bar.
Of course the adjoining public sports bar is available for all your keno and TAB needs, and to watch the footy, cricket or racing.
